Grandfathershirt.com is a content site & online store based in Galway, in the west of Ireland.

We set the site up towards the end of 2019 as a place to share the history and culture of Ireland with the rest of the world. To take an aspect of Irish culture & create detailed posts to help share & spread the fun & good nature of the Irish. Here, we answer our reader’s questions about the Irish or about traveling to Ireland.

In the early days, people we spoke to were fascinated by traditional Irish clothing and why it’s still commonly worn to this day. One item that kept coming up was the Irish Grandfather Shirt – known for its’ quality, durability and practicality. We chose to model our site off of these qualities & hence grandfathershirt.com.

As you might expect from our timeline, we were just up & running when Covid hit. This put a pause on much of our Irish culture, as well as others across the wold with lockdowns & restrictions. This limited the amount of day-to-day culture that we could share but it wasn’t enough to stop us.

During the lockdown, we managed to source the best quality grandfather shirts. Fans of the site have enjoyed our take on some great traditional Irish clothing and many come back for more. You can find more about these here.

We’re lucky to have sold into fifteen countries worldwide which has helped us to keep the dream alive for the website. And so, we can continue our goal to share the history and culture of Ireland with the rest of the world.
